    Hi Julie,

The depth field had to be limited in order for some members to have the option of being automatically suppressed or provide auto-clearances on certain depths. (Example, less than a metre). There are too many variables to calculate without the categories – meant to identify shallow, medium or deep.

    Thanks,

    Sher

I find it hard to believe any utility  would elect to provide clearance at a vague 'less than a metre'

I hear you, Julie. Certainly none of our Gas or Electric members take that route, but that is the standard 'clearance' depth for some of our municipal water providers.

does the call volume from some of your municipal water providers exceed the volumes from electrical, gas, pipeline members?

I sent an email already but thought better to capture  in this forum. I get the need to 'nail down' the values so requestors cannot use any value (metric/imperial) . can we simply have more values to chose from on the drop down? for example in 10 cm increments to 1.0m then go with what you have.

I think we could add another one or two options without too much change in development for suppression rules. Perhaps you could help me understand the business need at your end for more detail? So far, no members have indicated that the BRAG recommended categories are insufficient, so perhaps I just need more information from you to understand how to make the software better meet your particular requirement?

The idea of the site and a key BRAG objective was to simplify the process wherever possible. We are already getting feedback from some testers that they feel there are too many options in the drop-down lists and they want to see fewer not more.
That said, if the information is not enough for members to respond with accuracy and efficiency, then we may need to tweak to find a better balance for this particular drop down.

most specifically when dealing with our transmission duct bank (69k V- 230 kV) has a rather intense process of which we can currently clear after review of ticket at 0.30m or less.  It is a matrix of depth and proximity after that. As a compromise, if I could request 2 additional values of 0.30m or less and 0.50 m or less that would suffice for the time being. we can address at a later date if required
