How do I register to use Before You Dig Partners?
Click the “Register” button at the top of this page. Once you have submitted your contact details you will receive an email with further instructions on how to access the service.
How do I validate my email address?
Once you have registered you will automatically be sent an email from the service with instructions on how to validate your email address. The email contains a link that will confirm to the service that you have received the email. Once you validate your email address you can access the service immediately.
Can I use the service if I do not validate my email address?
You cannot use the service online if you do not validate your email address. Before You Dig Partners need to confirm that you have a valid email address so we may send you your Ticket Receipts via email.
How do I Login to Before You Dig Partners?
Click the “Login” button at the top of this page, you will be taken to a page where you can enter your username and password to gain access to the service.
I have forgotten my password, how can I retrieve it?
Passwords can be reset using the “Forgot Password” link on the Login page. Simply type in your Username and Email address then click “Send”. Your password will be reset and the details will be emailed to you.
Can I change my password?
Yes, Login to the application, Click the Account button and you will be presented with your details. Ensure you click the Update button once you have made your changes.
What if I cannot find the location I am looking for?
Have you tried the other search options available at “Search Type” (XY coordinates, LLD grid, intersection)? You can also try entering the nearest town into the “Street” search method and then use the navigation tools to position the map precisely on the location you require.
Which Drawing tool should I use?
When you perform a search the map will be automatically positioned with a cursor at the centre of your map. You will need to draw your site on the map and you have two drawing tools available:
- Line - The Line tool allows you to draw a line to represent your activity. The linear area represents your work area.
- Polygon - This tool is used to draw the outline of an area. The area inside the outline represents your work area.
Is there a limit to the size of a work area which I can submit on one ticket?
Yes, the size of the work area is limited for each specific ticket type as follows:
- Regular ticket: Maximum dig size of 900 square meters with no one side exceeding 50 meters in length.
- Project ticket in an urban area: Maximum dig size of 15,000 square meters with no one side exceeding 1,000 meters in length. Up to 10 excavation locations can be included in the drawn area.
- Project ticket in a rural area: Maximum dig size of 108,000 square meters with no one side exceeding 1,800 meters in length. An unlimited number of excavation locations can be included in the drawn area.
I have submitted a locate request, what should I do now?
The Ticket Receipt document (that is sent to your registered email address following each locate request) will outline which of the BYDP member utilities have assets registered with the BYDP service near your work area. Please note that not all facility owners are registered with BYDP and it is your responsibility to identify and contact all facilities within your work area.
Important: Do not start work until you have received a response from all facility owners.
What is the Ticket Receipt used for?
The Ticket Receipt is a record for you outlining all of the utilities who have had their Areas of Interest registered within your work area. A notification has also been sent to each of these utilities with your contact details.
I have not received my ticket receipt sheet?
You can have the Ticket Receipt re-emailed to you. Go to the Home screen and click on the History button. Perform a search for your ticket and click Resend PDF button. This will result in the same Ticket Receipt being emailed back to you.
